So it's been cold out lately, I have the 3.0T supercharged engine.


I've been noticing when it's really cold out, the supercharger whines like realllllly loud. It's only when the clutch kicks in-

While I'm all for these kinds of sounds, it doesn't seem normal. I didn't have this issue when the car was new- (10K on it now) so I wanted to hear if anyone else has heard excessive noise.

Take it in now while it's making the sound.

I'll try and get one tommrow. It occurs when the car is REALLY cold. It is pretty loud and whines quite a bit.

Have you tried going to a better strip club? They usually are pretty cordial and never whine at the better clubs. So I've been told...

That can't be healthy for the component that's making the noise

Oh they're always are noisy, use lots of oil too ;)

I haven't really noticed anything but radio is on and kids are in the car so maybe not noticeable. Very cold today so will see if I hear anything.

Same here... car delivered in July, noticed the same exact whine when the car is cold >40F.. as soon as you hear the relay click from stop, super charger engages and the whine/whirring begins... I actually like the sound but... not so sure how healthy it is on the SC component! Will ask the dealer when it eventually goes in for something else...

That doesnt sounds very noisy at all?
