I think many feel the same way but are influenced by the peer pressure of family, friends, co-workers, etc. to join the group think disapproval of diesel power.
US EPA standards are influenced by the administration's preference for electric cars. Electric cars may be fine for those who have short commutes in large cities. In Texas where I live electric cars are only useful on golf courses. I would take a free electric car if the government had one delivered to my gate.
