New Q7 fails as a replacement for our 2013 LR4.
#21
I do plan to order the air suspension on the new Q7. But with low gear, a locking center differential, locking rear differential, all-terrain tires and traction programming for sand, the LR4 will still be the better beach vehicle. And I don't want sand in my nice new Q7.
The only time our 2007 Q7 got seriously stuck in sand was due to the over-intrusive ESP. You could not completely shut it off, there was only onroad and offroad modes. ESP used the brakes to reduce wheel spin in sand. When it sensed the brakes overheating, it would cut power to the wheels. Then you had to sit for about 15 minutes to let the brakes cool then try again. At least it gave you some time to dig out around the tires. Sometimes in sand you need wheel spin to get going. I wonder if you can completely shut off the ESP in the new Q7.
