Default New q7 replacing x5 after considering xc90

For those shopping : we had firmly decided on a xc90 T6 inscription and then had my wife drove a q7 loaner while my S8 was in the shop

just picked up a q7 3.T prem plus with vision package, cold and warm weather, tow package, adaptive cruise, vision package

car is vault like - makes the xc90 feel comically tinny.

after reading opinions that one must get air suspension and that the Bose 3d is poor - found the standard suspension to be great and Bose to be better than the one in my d4 s8

only thing that I can’t stand are factory wheel options : want to stay within 20” and all original choices are ugly. Hence looking for alternatives

Congrats and welcome!

When it comes to sound, I believe the 'poor'-comments were in regards to the BASE system, not the BOSE system...

I just had a chance to sit in new X5, Q7 and Q8. X5 is an odd car for families and I am not sure what BMW was thinking. While front seats are really nice, the back seats are just meh. They don't recline or move and also center seat was very uncomfortable, so if you are looking to carry 5 it is not your car. Q7 on the other hand had comfortable seats in the back all around, and it is the only choice right now if you are looking for 3 rows.

Given the back seat situation of X5, I would only go with if you want newest car around, don't need a 3rd row and need a high trunk space. For 2 row cars, Q8 is a better choice if you are OK with its trunk space though, because of the shape the trunk can't really carry anything high.

Congrats on the Q7! After two SPA XC90s, this is the car to have. What a difference!

Coming from a Q5 my wife wanted to love the Q7 but that dash, track pad and MMI screen were something we couldn’t look past. My wife went for an RDesign XC90 and she loves it. I’m glad to see the interior redesign is coming quicker than expected for the Q7 because I was seriously considering an X5. Now I’ll just wait a little longer and get exactly what a want.

Agree on the 20" bi-color wheels are ugly! I can't stand those personally. But unfortunately 95% of inventories are equipped with those.

I ordered my 2019 primarily just to avoid those wheels. Yes, I'm willing to wait 4 months and it worth the wait

I have them on mine but only because I didn't want the summer tires so unfortunately, that was the only choice.

Now, there are 21" all seasons so my next wheels will certainly be different.

Why is that out of curiosity? Wouldn't summer tires be optimal year round in Tampa Bay? I have the 21" Goodyear summers and have been really impressed with them, super quiet and smooth
