I have it in my RS7... useful to some degree but has its limitations, particularly its inherent inability to work effectively in warmer weather. Since the night vision relies on detecting the heat signature of subjects, it's just not reliable in hot weather. The Q7's system is improved over the one in my RS7 in that its software now detects larger fauna (deer, moose, etc) as well. However, the basic night vision camera technology is the same so it has the same limitations in hot weather. Because of this, I didn't order it in our Q7. It is a cool feature to show off to friends though. For me it's been more of a novelty than something genuinely useful. ymmv

If you live in an area with a lot of deer, it's worth it, but otherwise not really. And once it gets to around 90F, it really doesn't work that well.

As others said...not useful in warm weather. It's the one option I would not get again.

Depends where you live. If you live in a highly wooded area with a lot of deer, it is worth it. If you live in a well populated area, then it's a waste.

I live in a well-populated suburban area yet my wife's car got hit by a deer less than 1/4 mile from our house. I've had some close calls. So I ordered the NV on my Q7. Got it just in time for DST to mean I'm really not driving at night. Looking forward to the end of DST so I can see if it's useful or not.

Sounds like the deer are the ones needing NV!

Another disadvantage of NV is you have to order a Prestige model in order to order NV. I do not want the warm weather package or run flat tires, things that are options on a Premium Plus but part of the Prestige package. So for me the NV becomes a $5k option (price of NV plus price of warm weather and run flats) so guess I will just drive carefully while counting the extra $5k in my wallet

I have it on rhe X5 and a must have for me on the Q7. Our summer cottage has roads with moose and we have pitch darkness 6 months, when the sun barely comes up. Both marques have pedestrian/animal detection and warn you way ahead of you seeing the animal. The lights blink at the object warning rhem and you and I believe auto braking is connected also. It is very effective. Both in the city and outside the city, it warns you of pedestrians waring black and wandering on the road. But you need Matrix headlights to get full advantage.
