It enables Video, SMS and online news while the car is moving.

Click Telephone, then left click will shows a menu which will have SMS Inbox.

Online news is under the audi connect I believe.

I got another noob question here, does this work if my MMI is a standard, the one without SMS/Emai/Navl option in it?

You would have to side-load the app if it will work at all. Maybe easier to buy a cheap tablet.

Mostly people do it, so they can be able to view their messages and be able to input address while in motion. Heck of a lot safer than screwing around with your phone, or trying to interact with iffy voice recognition.

I guess it would be safe to assume that if this work on your 2017 Q7 MMi, it should also work on my 2018 Q5 MMi also correct?

So I get to the step where you hold to apply the change but after a few seconds of pressing, the hold message disappears, no credits are deducted and there is no indication anything changed. I emailed obdeleven support and they told me to ask for help in a forum.

I have gotten the obdeleven just to enable VIM. Neat little gadget. But here are few things that I found out.
1. It DOES NOT come with pro software. There was a few reviews that mentioned that you will get the pro software when it come. Nope, nada. You have to purchase it for another 30 bucks. So essentially, your cost for this thing is ~80 bucks.
2. You don't have to get credits (which is another 100 credits if you use their service ~15 bucks). I looked around and found there are two tutorials on youtube to tell you exactly how to do this without using "credits".

I hope this helps the next person. I think it's a little steep to pay ~100 bucks to get VIM enabled. I might as well pay someone who has VAG to do it..... Sure it's nice to have this little gadget if you need it for something else.

HTH

Should I wait to get an OBDEleven for a 2019 model or are updates usually via software? The current models says upto 2018 only.

Could you possibly provide the link to the youtube video on how we can enable VIM and not use the credits. BTW, as far as I know it's not possible to enable VIM on newer MMI software.
