Looks like the consensus is that it will probably be out later in the year. With no concrete release date it makes no sense for me to wait and try to extend my lease, plus I doubt Audi will allow it for such a long period (4+ months). Time to go to the dealer to find my vehicle or order a new one.
Thanks for all the input.

If you can wait for an 18 as there's usually corrections/improvements...wish I did.

With all the new product roll-out the early part of the year it's very likely the 18 Q7 won't launch until fall (as is normal for most products). You could be a loooooong wait. And currently with all the A4s unable to be released from port it's a total gamble on when the 18s could actually be into customer's hands. If you need a car before next year, waiting for an 18 seems likely to not help you your situation. Likely there will be a price increase and also little discount early on, so you can probably save a substantial amount by getting into a 17 as well.

There was already a $700 price increase on MY17 that started on 1/4/17 so I wonder if they plan to increase it again or not. Some current 17 orders won't be delivered to dealers until June, so MY18 probably won't be until July at the absolute earliest.

Based on what you've seen from Audi before, what's your best guess on when they will start taking orders on the '18s and when someone who ordered as soon as ordering opened, would get an '18?

Bonus question, what's you best guess as to what will be different in the '18s?

No idea on any of those. Even if an 18 is ordered, Audi isn't going to release the car until they want 18s out on the street.

I guess the main thing I was wondering was say the release date is August, do they normally open up consumer ordering in May or so, so that those placing custom orders are among the initial round of deliveries, or do they stock the dealerships first and a custom order would be more like September or October or so delivery?

2018 SQ5 will be going to the 3.0T turbo; I'd assume the Q7 will also be going with the turbo.

What's the pros/cons of turbo vs super charger? If they did that would it like be a horsepower boost? More/less turbo lag. Is it a twin turbo or single?
