Out with the 17 & bought a 19
My dealership called and said there's software they're using where they rate customers and their likelihood to replace current vehicles. (It's based on the age of the car, mileage, condition, and I'm sure a few other things too.)
At the end of the day, they're giving me $34,000 for 2017 Q7 Premium Plus with 105,000 miles on it. (My 17 needs tires and has some signs of wear on it.)
The cars look identical and the 2019 Premium Plus has wireless charging, an upgrade. (The 1 "less than positive" thing is that the dashboard screen will not go down into the dash at the touch of a button - you can only turn the screen off.)
After finding out that the 2020's might be all digital, which is nice, my "buttons" are preferred because you don't see the fingerprints.
They're also classifying this as a CPO for me so I can get unlimited bumper to bumper warranty for 5 years - which for me is best as I average 40,000 miles a year.
That's an okay upgrade I think.

105k miles and $34k! I think (whats the kbb value on your car?) you got a great deal, man. You've got to strike while the iron is hot...well done!

Question, so is your local dealer selling you a new car with a CPO designation? Is CPO really a full extension of the bumper to bumper warranty?

Man I hate the lack of buttons on the upcoming 2020. And no retractable screen? They are trying to save money. Doesn’t seem luxurious to me. But I can’t blame you for upgrading on a good offer.

The screen does retract when the car is turned off, but because there is new legislation requiring reversing cameras it's theoretically possible to have the screen retracted and put the car in reverse without the camera being active in time.

$34,000 is a really good trade in price. Im searching for a used q7 right now to get rid of my sq5 so I have been watching prices really closely. Trying to find a Prestige with air ride, lux package, cold weather with black or brown interior for a good price. I have access to Manheim so im checking auctions too. One just sold yesterday right above my hopeful price. The one yesterday was a 17 with 41k miles, prestige, lux, air ride, cold weather, gray exterior and bidding went to $35,100 but seller didn't take it. They wanted $37,000, I wanted it for $34,000. It normally takes me months to find a car for a good enough price.
In case anyone is curious to see what dealer pays at auction for cars. These are all Prestige trims. Either 2017 or 2018's.

If I would have bought a new 2019 - the warranty would have been the traditional 5 year / 50,000 miles.
