I just bought my 2016 Q7. For some strange reason the car has advanced key but no memory for seat adjustment. With a small wife that is quite irritating. Is it a lot of work to retrofit this? The buttons are quite cheap on ebay. If I only need the small panel in addition I will definetly do this. Do I need wires or other parts? Do I need to program this into the car?

I thought the smart keys had seat profile tied in with each key. I don’t remember the specifics, but there’s a way for the car to remember the last seat setting for each key. It works for ours. Did you try the manual?

You need: connector for button, 5 metall pins for cable to go in the seat controller inside the door, some fabric/cloth tape
and a little bit coding.

I have a extra memory button and grey trim for driver door with connector and pins...

Sorry, excuse my poor reading comp. now I realize the OP was asking about installing the actual seat memory panel.

It does not look like my car have an option for profiles or seat memory. I don't need the physical buttons if it's possible to create profiles, but I only have an option for easing the entering of the car under "seats" in my menu. No memory function. I would prefer profiles with memory seating, but anything that makes it easier for me and my small wife to adjust the seats would be great
