Default Q7 Engine Swap?

Dear Users,

Is it possible to have an engine swapped on the 2018 Q7? considering the 2018 Q7 comes with both 2.0TFSI and 3.0 TFSI, theoretically, an engine swap would be a smooth swap,

I am pondering the idea of placing a 3.0TFSI into my 2.0L 2018 Q7,

Was wondering if Audi North America could order an engine and swap it in for me,

Thanks,

You'd need to also replace the ECU or reprogram. But in all honesty, it would have been easier just to buy the 3.0 to start with. Since after getting an engine to swap, you'll have to spend a sizeable amount of time or money doing the actual swap and ECU work.

Considering the amount of money the engine costs + the work that needs to be put into it and then there also may be some warranty issues, it's better all around to get a new car with the bigger engine. Most likely it will cost less also.

Either way, if you trade it for a new 3.0 or if you attempt an engine swap you're going to take a financial hit.

IMO If you calculated all the parts you would need to do a swap, including the ones none of us are thinking of. Then figure in labor and the hit on resale value you will take I think it would be less expensive, and less aggravating to trade it for a 3.0.

And this isn't even taking into account the inevitable issues that are going to arise from doing a swap.

Everyone has stated the obvious, I'm just curious about why you would want to do this. Did you get a 2.0 Q7 for free? That may be the only rational explanation, and even then....better to sell and buy a new one

A 3.0L engine lists for over $15,000. Then all new engine bay wiring harnesses would have to be installed, so probably nearly $5,000 for wiring. Then you would have to upgrade an endless list of parts...all new exhaust, engine mounts, engine and transmission ECUs, the entire cooling package with radiator is different,.........literally the list is endless with minor differences between countless parts.

You could possible purchase parts for $35,000 dollars. Then there would be the labor to install, likely costing nearly half that amount. And it would void probably every warranty the vehicle had.

Is it technically possible? Would it cost 2/3 the value of the vehicle to do so? Yes. Does that make it financially viable? Heck NO!

You are right,

better to trade in to a 3.0L,

had no Idea what I was getting into when I chose the 2.0L

Dont trade it, audi will fleece you. But since you will trade for another Q7 they may give you a good price for the 2.0. Get a trade in price from them and see if its fair first before making a deal

already appraised the car, they offered me, $58,000 for the trade in, originally bought the car for almost $70,000 before taxes, and freight and PDI,

basically losing $12,000 after only driving car for 3 months
