for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do this. it would be so much easier to find thing in the area I recently moved to if I didnt have to constantly scroll thru previous destinations. obviously using favorites one can name places and access them easier but I dont know how to even get to that option. thanks in advance for any help.

It's buried in there. Keep looking. You can also set a destination, cancel it, and then refind it and set it to a favorite then rename it.
