Honestly, I'd take the Q7 or the X7 as my next ride. The X7 certainly has a higher sticker but when leasing, a nice chunk of that is covered by BMW's superior deals.

Feature-wise, there is basically no option I can think of that is not available on the X7. That fact alone makes it an interesting vehicle. The ultimate decision for me will be made once I know the end product of the new Q7 and have all deals on the table. As of today, I'd probably get another Q7 due to the lower price and sportier exterior design which is probably the X7's biggest weakness.

Party politics aside, I've learned one thing about ALL german cars, particularly Luxury ones - don't buy the first one of anything, you're asking to be a guinea pig for every bug and quirk. BMW and Audi have gotten a LOT better about initial quality, but get the one that has more road time - the Q7 at this point.

My 2 cents.

A valid point. The good thing is that the "new stuff" (i.e. MMI) on the Q7 is already out on other models.

unattractive indeed. if i was buying the x7, i would get a black exterior and plasti dip the front grill in black. a chrome grill doesnt go with a luxury vehicle

This is my battle. While I'd like to pick up something new sooner than later I find it difficult to pull the trigger on a model that will be refreshed in less than 12 months.
I never buy first model year but as you said the tech is out in the A6 and most importantly the Q8 which will share a lot of the same components.
Gah ..so impatient.

I would go with X7 over any Nav./Expedition. You could get a really well equipped X7 for 85k too. In 6 years the Lincoln/Ford will start to look sloppy and cheap like every other Ford product after it ages....
