Question on Audi AfterCare offering
Hi All,
I'm finally pulling the trigger on a Q7 after painstakingly comparing it against both the XC90 and GLE. Not my first go around purchasing a car but when it comes time to talk to the finance guy, it's hard for me to decide at that point on whether or not it's worth it for their exterior paint and interior protection packages. They mentioned something about a coating (diamond something?) that bonds to the porous paint protecting it against various elements and making it easier to clean. They also mentioned the package includes some product application to soften the seats and covers them for stains (which shouldn't happen once this product installed) as well as rips/tears. Finally he mentioned protection applied to the carpets so if something spills on it, it prevents the liquid from going down to the floor boards.
This all sounds too good to be true. I have some time to decide before the car comes and wanted to see if anyone else jumped on it and is happy with their experience. Was the dealer responsive to claims? - either present or past with these products.
Thanks,
J

If you have access to last month's Consumer Reports car issue, take a look there. This stuff is generally overpriced, underperforming nonsense.
If you want real paint protection on critical areas, search this forum for recent posting about ClearBra, Xpel, 3M and the like.

Dealers offer these kinds of products at higher prices than you cen have done on your own. They often use third parties and take an additional cost markup as the middle man. Also, they don't always use the best products. Film like Xpel Utimate and paint protection like Opti-Coat Pro/Plus are great products but you are better off looking for a good detaiier to install them after you take delivery and not the dealer.
