"READY"

Default "READY"

On the Tachometer is the words "READY" and "OFF" Any clue what they mean?

"Ready" indicates that the auto stop/start has stopped the engine, and it will automatically start again when you take your foot off the brake. "Off" means that it's really off, and you need to hit the start button manually to start the car.

Thank you. However the words are always there, regardless of the position of the dash switch or the auto stop/start system. There is a green "A" in a circle when that system is active and it has a slash when it is off...

The tach needle should point to Ready when auto stop/start is activated and Off when the car is off. This is described on page 92 of the manual (S5, but I suspect that yours is similar). It also goes to Ready when you’re in accessory mode (hit the start button without your foot on the brake).

The words “Ready” and “Off” are shown in place of a “0” rpm to differentiate between the 2 ways the engine can be stopped. The virtual needle will point to the word corresponding to the current condition.
