got the same on mine, but recall is not available yet.

I went in for service on Saturday and my advisor mentioned this, he said that once there is a repair issued they will be in touch.. I asked what the issue is with the fuel rail and he said he didn't have any definite info on what the exact problem is, they also don't have an ETA on the repair yet either.

Yes for us. https://www.audiworld.com/c347fe56-d...8-9ac9eb5249d0 blob |

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.aud...aa6b8eca9b.png Hey y’all, I got my 30k scheduled for 2/26 my advisor said there was a recall, and they will be able to make the repair. He said the fuel rails “could potentially” leak. I’ll post more details soon |

FIRE hazard and they have the recall but NOT YET ! That's a big WTF! A fuel rail is high pressure tubing which takes fuel to the injectors in an internal combustion engine. The fuel passes from the fuel rail into the injectors in metal fuel pipes. Be very careful when you pull off the fuel rail from the top of the injectors, as although it is made out of metal, it easily bends or breaks. The fuel rail is the long, round metal bar that runs along the top of the injectors and is held onto the manifold with a few bolts. ---- After reading this, will get it in to the dealer as soon as the parts are available. |

Fuel Rails in blue and red. They sit on top of fuel injectors. Blue are for FSI injectors, Red are for MPI injectors. You will have to remove the plastic cover, and even then I'm not sure if fuel rail will be visible without removing the upper manifold. Fuel rail recall is not a minor issue. Generally speaking physical problems with fuel rails are extremely rare as usually it's a single rather robust piece of aluminum. It's the connections between the fuel rail, the fuel supply and the injectors that can be in question, hence most likely the reason why the general issue has been identified but specific culprit and repair has not been issued yet. |
Does the recall apply to all Q7's, or just specific years/engines?
|
Dohturdima and gsohol :Appreciate very much the description of the fuel rail. No way I would do anything but try and see is there is any leaking occurring. Guess I'll just hound the service manager where I bought the car.

The dealer fixed the fuel rail recall on my 2017 Q7, when I sent it yesterday for 30k service.

I'm curious to see if certain build 2018s have the recall

Going in for service on Monday. They will have the car while I am away on vacation.
They are looking into availability on the parts for this recall and hopefully can complete it. When I have more details I will fill folks in. |
Dealer called me this Wednesday saying Audi approved the repairs. Fixed during Wednesday and Thursday. Today it is ready to be picked up. It will take a day tops.

The letter from Audi says 3 hours. I called my dealer yesterday and they said they'd order the parts but didn't know when they'd be available. Maybe next week.

Nice to see the 19's have already been addressed at the factory
|
Just as an FYI, I took my Q7 in for annual service and asked about this recall, dealer said my vehicle was not part of the recall. My production date was February 2018
|
Got my recall letter yesterday. I suppose I'll get mine done at the next service next month

Normally I too would just wait until the next service. But this one has the risk of fire, and I do park mine in the garage under my house. While low probably of it happening, I do want to get it fixed ASAP. I've even considered parking outside until it's fixed, but ughhh, it's winter! Keeping my nose open for any faint odor of gas.

If you're concerned until you can bring it in, just check if there's any fuel odor under the hood when the engine is running, checked ours, so far so good.

if you're concerned pop the hood and be sure.
Got the letter couple days ago. Our lease runs out in August, but since it's a fire hazard, we'll get the recall work done ASAP. |

We just popped the hood last week to add a quart of oil (7,000 miles since last oil service and got low oil warning). No noticeable smell of gas, but it was outdoors, in our driveway.
Got the letter couple days ago. Our lease runs out in August, but since it's a fire hazard, we'll get the recall work done ASAP. We are moving to our second home next week and we will bring ours in for the recall the following week or as soon as the dealer there can get us in. I/we have been carefully checking for fuel odors in the garage upon returning home and before departing with the engine running to stay safe in the interim. |
Have an appointment this Wednesday and I was told there's also a recall on front cameras.
