Default Replacing tires at 11K miles

My 21” summer performance tires are already at 1/8 inch tread depth. This is the minimum Audi will accept at turn in. I have 14 months left on the lease. Thinking i’ll Go ahead and replace the tires soon. Otherwise i’ll Be turning in a car with new tires. I might as well enjoy them. Anyone know what Audi charges for “excess wear and tear” on tires?

I think they charge you the cost of the replacement tires.
Can't you contact the tire manufacturer and complain, aren't the tires rated at 30k miles minimum, or no such a thing with summer performance tires?

OEM summer performance tires. They’re probably good for another 5K but why pay Audi for a set of tires I won’t use? I’ll replace now and enjoy the new tires. No mileage guarantee with factory tires.

11k life on summer tires is a bit on the low end but not out of the norm. I typically replace summer tires at around 14-15k.

I could get another 4K out of them but then i’ll just be returning a lease vehicle with brand new tires.

no way that's too low. Do you drive it like you stole it?>

Summer tires suck in that aspect and the Q7 doesn't help with it's weight.

You can complain with dealer but they are just going to refer you to the manufacturer.

The only advice i can give you is next set get all season tires and rotate them every 5k miles.

I’m an average driver. I did take a 3500 mile trip this Summer in 95 degree weather and that took a lot of tread off.

After reading tire comments on the forum I’m gonna stick with the Continentals. Seems like the Goodyear’s had chunking issues (on the run flats anyway) and the Pirellis get pretty noisy as they wear. BTW Discount Tire was $30/tire less than Tire Rack.

My OEM Pirelli scorpions A/S seem to be doing well so far also. Only 3k on them but they ride great and are super quiet.

I’ve had good luck with DWS06 and SureContactRX.
