You bash your shins on them getting in and you get your pants and legs dirty when you rub on them on your way out. The only possible benefit may be standing on them to reach into a roof box.

I am thinking about when family and elders visit and particularly when they are between 5' 2" and 5' 3" tall.

My son who is 5 yrs old has no trouble but wants one's that are motorized, because they are cool. LOL. Not sure, I will get motorized ones though.

Did you installed by yourself or hire someone else install it? If you did by yourself, how hard is it? did you remove the tow kit on the rear? Thx

Can anyone share a quote for having the running boards installed at a dealer. I'm in Canada and the list price on the parts is $1200 (same as USA). I asked a dealer (with whom I am negotiating the purchase of a new Q7) for a quote to install running bars, and he said it's normally $3200 but he can mark down to $2900. Taking out parts cost, that's $1700 to bolt some bars onto the truck -- that seems insane to me! How hard could it be to install these. I told him I'll do it myself for $1700.

Is this a normal or reasonable price?

That dealer charge a lot for installation. I am thinking to get this set from Romik for $436 and install by myself since they will include the installation instruction. Is your dealer will remove or leave the towing package to install the step bars? I am still looking for this info since I dont know if I can leave the towing alone when install the step bars.

i asked and confirmed that the running boards and tow package are compatible. Did not learn whether the tow package would need to be "moved out of the way" to install the running boards.

Do you mind to share a rear view picture of your Q7 that capture both step bars and towing in the picture? Thx

I was told it takes like a solid day to install the boards, there are multiple cuts that need to be made and they have to thread some of the bolts etc... (I think I remember them saying the battery is in the way)
