Default Taming the cargo area

Today marks the 1st week of my '18 Q7. Am loving it! Still haven't driven it at night as we are home bodies at that time of day.

After grocery shopping yesterday I decided I really need something to keep groceries/shopping bags in place for the ride home. My other SUVs had upright cargo nets which worked pretty well.

I, however, am a little perplexed on how the Q7 cargo would handle this task. Seems like it would flatten the bags down. Not good for bread, veggies, etc.

Then, what about the cargo box? Is this a good option?

Or, is there some off-market solution?

What is everyone else using?

I was just looking at this. Could be a solution.

If you get the Weathertech mat for the cargo area, Weathertech also makes blocks that stick to the cargo mat that will hold items in place.

This subject comes up every so often. I bought an instacrate collapsible box from Costco for under $10 (the Amazon link below has it for $19 if you're not a Costco member). The box folds very flat, and in my opinion is much less conspicuous than vinyl sided collapsible boxes which are in multiple colors and have a lot of webbing. I also tend to think a hard box is much less likely to collapse with side to side movement than a soft box.

This is exactly what I did too. These collapsible crates are $8 a piece at Costco and work really well.
I tried to use VW CarGo blocks from my previous vehicle, but they do not hold well to Audi's thinner than Touareg's carpet.

I bought this and it works great.

Amazon Amazon

I attach it to the tie downs along the right side of the back so I can put larger items on the left if need be. Easy to take out when you need the space for other things.

My Q7 came with these handy third row seats that you can electrically raise from the cargo area. I never use them for people to sit in, but I do raise them when I have cargo that I don't want sliding forward. :-)
