Tow package
 

Hello everyone. This forum has been great helping me decide what I want on my Q7. I have a question about the tow package. I have seen several Q7 that has all of what I want but is missing the tow package. Can the tow package be added as dealer installation? If it can, will it be the same as the towing package from factory ($550)?

I agree with the air suspension and that's what I'm looking for. I've seen a few I like with air suspension but without the tow package.

There are aftermarket hitches available and can be added, but I don't know if it will be exactly the same. As I understand it, there might be other tweaks to the car when it is factory installed. I waited and found one with the Tow, air suspension, AND 4-wheel steering.. very happy I did. While I haven't been able to tow yet, the two other features are great!

Given that the Air suspension is the only way to get 4 wheel steering you basically found one with towing package and air suspension.

We have a 2017 3.0L Q7 with the standard tow package and can tow our 27 foot Airstream with no issues. The GVWR for the Q7 is about 7700 lbs. Trailer weighs in about 5500 when it is dry (i.e., no water/waste or luggage, etc). It's a great SUV for towing since the size is so much smaller than a truck.

If you have the Dealer install the "Factory/OEM" hitch system, you lose the ability of opening the rear hatch by waving you foot under the bumper. This is a design failure...
