Transmission failure on 2018 under 6K miles
I have a 2018 Q7 with under 6K miles. Today, it would not shift into neutral nor into reverse, only drive. When shifting into reverse, it lurches forward a bit. After I tried to get it to properly shift after 3 restarts, it finally showed a transmission failure error in the dash. Under 6K miles, and already having this issue. I didn't find any other reports of this here in the forum. Any experience with this?? First Audi, and not a good experience.

forgot to mention, 3.0L (supercharged) engine.
When I shift into reverse, it shows "R" in the dashboard, but the car goes forward. When I shift into "N", the car also goes forward. When I shift between D and R, into R, there is a pronounced lurch forward and loud sound from the front of the car (transmission?) but as mentioned, it only wants to go forward.

31 days later, I got the Q7 back today. At first they thought it was the Mechatronic based on error codes, and replaced that. That did not resolve the issue so they had to replace the entire transmission. I was told that the U.S. West Coast advanced tech, who has the phone number to the engineering department directly in Germany, was on this case and this was only the second ever occurrence of this known across all of North America.

Glad the issue is resolved. Unfortunately for you your Q7 was only the second one this has happened to, but it is good to hear it's a very rare occurrence.
