Even the HEX-NET is not fully compatible yet, some interface are not accessible and no labels at all for the B9

Has anyone tried TOAD from totalcardiagnostics? Also the VCDS cable from Ross tech costs $250. I am wondering if the below VCDS compatible cable would work

VAG-COM VCDS 2016 - OBD2 Diagnostic Cable & Software (for VAG Cars: VW, AUDI, SEAT, SKODA)

Based on the price I'm pretty certain that it's a cheap Chinese clone. Any thing older than VCDS 16.3 beta will not properly work on the MLBevo platform.

Just got my 2017 Q7 Prestige. Without any MODS, there is a setting the Vehicle Settings > Locking area that enables the ability to open/close windows and sunroof via the FOB. No VCDS required.

So if I were going to buy a new Ross tech cable should I get a HEX-NET? For the B9 MLBevo?

I understood that the HEX-NET is the more modern hardware design with more memory to store the firmware which gets more complex for newer cars. The latest firmware for the HEX-CAN added some support for MLBevo but even the HEX-NET can't do much at this time. Several controllers are not accessible or even shown and almost no label files even in 16.3.1. If you plan to use the cable for the next 10+ years on modern cars then HEX-NET is the way to go. While WiFi support is still a bit hit and miss, the USB cable connection is equal to the old HWX-CAN USB cable.

Ok, so it is the one that is most future proof. Sounds like it's worth the extra cash, done and done. Thanks.

Just got my car on Monday and was able to poke around with VCDS today.

FWIW, HEX-USB+CAN cable is able to access most (?) of the car's systems with the latest firmware and Beta v16.5.1 (Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Current Beta) so don't need to rush out and buy the HEX-NET wireless version yet if you've still got the USB cable.

Was able to get the following done:
- Needle sweep
- Gear # indicator (D1/S1, etc. vs just D/S)
- Disable seat belt warning

Coding for DRL "wink" doesn't appear to be the same as in previous models so if anyone has it... please chime in!

Also would be neat to activate ambient lighting colors if anyone figures that out. =)

I was able to get the following VCDS mods done so far:

Disable seat belt chime
  1. Instruments 17
  2. Adaption 10
  3. In drop down menu choose Deactivate seat belt chime
  4. Change Deactivate seat belt from NO to YES

Needle sweep in virtual cockpit
  1. Instruments 17
  2. Coding 07
  3. Long coding
  4. Byte 1
  5. Bit 0 activate/check

Enable lap timer
  1. Instruments 17
  2. Coding 07
  3. Long coding
  4. Byte 1
  5. Bit 3 activate/check

No luck on HUD showing gears (even though I was able to change it to D on/S on), taillights on with DRL, adjusting LED brightness, disable start/stop, add ACC distance to MMI, etc.
I am using Ross Tech with 16.3beta so I am sure we will be able to do more in time.

I was just wondering if any of you were able to make any additional mods to the new Q7 yet.

Thanks
Where do you find the lap timer after enabling it in VCDS? I wasn't able to get it to work.

If the VC is in "car" view, press the left button on the left side of the steering wheel (next to the scroll button), there should be new options
