No I haven't. I most likely will wait until the final version to come out and see.

Looks like there is no need to get a hex-net if the newest VCDS is able to read the modules.

Have you tried using the latest beta version 16.5.1? According to Ross-Tech, Hex-USB-CAN should be able to connect to MLB 2 cars (aka Q7 Mk2 and A4 B9) using the new firmware. There're a couple of labels too.
