What size tires for 21x9.5 wheels?
I have a 2017 q7 with 20's and air ride. Looking to upgrade. I would like a comfortable tires so no side walls that are super thin. Any recommendations for tire sizes? 285/40/21?

You are replacing your 20" OE wheels and RF tires with 21" wheels and non-RF tires, correct? Any tires that are not RF will feel much smoother/more comfortable to ride on than the ride you're having on the OE RF set. If your plan is to go with the Audi OE 21" replacement, than you've already answered your question (the width of the rim for these tires is in its minimum with the OE wheels). If I'd be on a market for both - wheels and tires - I'd rather look around for alternative sizes as IMO Q7 wheels are too narrow for the vehicle and more suitable for dedicated winter set than for all-seasons or summer tires.

I also had 285/45/21s for more cush. On 21x9/9.5 wheels. But 285/45/22 a no go.
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Bob
Perfect fitment.
