Kind of nice not to have to spend all that money.
I checked with my mechanic as I would like to go with aftermarket rims and tires as they are cheaper with better styling, but he heard from other mechanics that one of their Q7 clients experiences issues with the warning on tire pressure.

Question - after replacing with aftermarket rims and tires (no special TPMS adaptor), we only need to reset the Q7 MMI that the tire pressure are inspected/validated? And the same after putting back original stock tires when winter is over?

The passive TPMS (measured by rotational speed of each wheel relative to each other) in the Q7 will work fine with any wheel whether oem or aftermarket.

Not sure why your mechanic is suggesting otherwise, unless of course they are an Audi dealer mechanic, in which case I think I can guess why...

Only thing to make sure of with regards to mounting aftermarket wheels is that 1) you use the proper lug bolts with the proper seat shape (oem is R14 ball seat, most aftermarket is conical with some exceptions, hartmann replicas are R13 ball) and 2) that you are aware of the wheels' construction and whether they were designed for the higher loads that the Q7 requires (especially if you're towing a trailer)

Fingers crossed that I can fit the 18" snows that came off our 2011 GL Merc. Bolt pattern and center bore is the same. Wheels are 18x8 with offset of 45. Tires are 265/60-18 which are 1.8% larger in circumference, when new. Now probably a little smaller...

How much difference in size between the two? The winter wheels look a lot smaller.

Looks like 21 to 19 based on the wheel spec...pretty dramatic difference, is there a system setting you had to change to let the car know the tire size to adjust the odometer? Think i'm going for the 20" for my snow tires instead of 19"....black friday deals are coming, time to buy.

21" factory and the new are 20" with tire to match original diameter. The bigger ones are a little closer to the camera which fools the eye a bit. Specs are in the post.
