Sunroof weatherstrip..
At a crazy cost of 120.00 from the dealer, I can see why the sunroof weatherstrip may not be on the car.
If you didn't know it was supposed to be there, it doesn't look *too* bad. Besides, it never rains in Califiornia, right? :-) |
From what I understand, the new weatherstrip Audi is supplying doesn't fit right either.
It is a bit thicker than the original stuff, so it binds in the opening. Sad.

My new '83 had it's seal replaced few years back and it's perfect... maybe a new supplier??

Hupe is generated by magazines and TV... However I believe magazines have been doing their job....
for years now... claiming the quattro to be the car of the century, decade etc. etc.. the single largest leap since blah blah blah.. looks no one is listening though... at least on this continent. 20v ur-q is one of Jeremy Clarkson's all time favorite cars.. he used to own one!
I should post the clip I have of him raving about it... :) |
WHAT??? the new weatherstrip Audi is supplying doesn't fit right either.
What? Now you tell me... :-)
After i bent Waaaaaay over, and forked out the cash for a new one.. (1 of '7' left, I was told) I guess we'll see on the weekend how it fits! |
I hope yours is better than the last one I saw. The strip was too thick.
I got a new one five or so years ago, and it fit great. It wasn't the same type as the original, but it did fit properly still looks perfect. Then again, my car hasn't left the garage under its own power in eight years...
The originals were available in at least a couple of colors, like white on white cars. The new ones are black only. |
Re: Guys, he's talking about the "Los Angeles 1984" sitckers on the doors
The price is very negotiable if a serious buyer comes forward...

Maybe in Europe, but not in the US. While they did print stories (hmm think Audi pushed a bit?),
the articles were full of incorrect information and the wrong pictures. Then you have an "expert" say that you can find nice examples for $2500.
Personally, I think the video games are doing as much good as anything. I can't tell you have many people have asked if my car is the same as the one in the video game (wish I remembered exactly which game its in - for a guy that works for hours on the computer each day, I have zero games). |
I've heard of white Euro-spec urqs at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics
supposedly used by Austrian or West German team officials. Cars probably went back to Europe and may not have had any distinguishing marks on them anyways. Those are the only other "Olympic" urqs I've ever heard of.
