1987 Audi 5000 Turbo Quattro starter
Hello people, first thread for me. I've just acquired a 1987 5000 CS Turbo Quattro and the starter will partially engage for 2 seconds then spin freely. It feels to me that the bendix is disengaging the starter. Does anyone have the starter motor removal sequence? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance .....roadgear

I'd suggest that you swing over to the 5000 forum..

While I think all of the inline 5 cylinder motor starters are the same, I'm thinking that getting one out of a 5K is a bit harder than doing the same on the small bodied cars.
Pretty well you disconnect the power and other wiring (after disconnecting the battery), then undo the two bolts holding the starter in. (one bolt threads into the starter housing, one passes though the starter housing to a nut. )
The trick is how to *get* at those two bolts. That's where the 5K guys may be of more specific help.. :-)
