20V conversion
Thinking about a 20V conversion over the winter, just wondering what type of prices im looking at for parts. Any input from people who have done it would be great including any issues you have run into. Just trying to decide what project I will do this winter, URQ or 10" custom lift on the Jeep Cherokee.

Re: 20V conversion costs
Including the engine which I found for $2k the entire project cost me another $3k in parts and services (flywheel machining etc. etc.).
I changed to Torsen tranny at same time.
I replaced every seal/gasket and maintenance item.
Also got a 20v airbox.
Swap took less than a week.<ul><li><a href="http://www.quattro.ca/19853B/3B.htm">Pictures of the swap</a></li></ul>

My conversion ran about 10K.
I put a 3b into an '85 over the past 9 months. It was a tougher project that I expected, but it's so fun to drive and the feeling of accomplishment is huge.
I bought my 3b from a salvage yard for 3K. Then I went completely through it, new rods, bearings, valve guides, everything. That work, including machine shop, was about 5K. Then it was another couple thousand in miscelaneous parts I scrounged from here or there. I still have lots of sorting to do and tuning will be an ongoing effort.
Jeeps SUCK!

Re: Do the URQ project. only if your WX is smoked...
...no sense cutting up a mint original Urq. Becoming harder to find. Of course if the car is tired or needs then then go for it. If your going to spend that kind of money to get it mint, then by all means drop a 3b in it.

Re: Do the URQ project. only if your WX is smoked...
By no means is my engine even closed to smoked, just want more power. I estimate close to 275hp or so right now with the mods that are done...would love to get a bunch over 300 though. Well maybe Ill just wait then since it looks like this project will take a bit more cash then my winter allowance will allow at this time. Thanks for all your help guys.
I hope to sometime make it to a get to gether!
