Default Anybody using collector car insurance?

I'm looking at both Haggerty and Grundy. They are both substantially less than regular rates, like 1/3 to 1/4. Grundy came in at $130 and Haggerty was at $176. My urq is not going to be a DD.
Anybody got any experience with these companies? Anybody got any better ideas?
Thanks!

I have mine insured as a collector car through State Farm. The established value is $15,000, and it runs $55 a half (in Ohio). They do require documentation to establish the value and to determine that it is a collectible.

$55 for half a year ????????????? thats insane =(

I pay $180 a month and i only drive the car once in a while, also not a daily driver.

Insurance in Canada is expensive.

I was considering Haggerty, but they said it wouldn't be covered if I drove it to work.
Looks like the State Farm policy groupbq mentions is a better deal, depending on when you drive the car.

I had a 1972 Porsche insured with American Collector http://www.americancollectors.com/ and it was only a few hundred $s a year. My beloved 911 torched on the way to the office one day. No hassle they paid with inflation escalation from the declared value and even game the car back to me for the towing cost. Excellent for that type of need.

Default You can edit, but..

You can edit, but you have to ask first.

(Seems as when Audiworld changed their forum format, many that moved over to "quattro world".com were deleting their old Audiworld posts)

I've looked into collector car insurance - it's too restrictive for my needs. I drive the car too much - to work, to mountain biking, to nowhere in general. My urq is a toy...

If you don't drive it much and take it to shows and such - worth looking in to.

I have mine insured through Hagarty- 3,000 miles a year permitted about $400.00 annually. I have an agreed value of $28,000. I can tell you how I did that another time, just requires patience. The insurance meets all my needs and its with a half a million liability- I went the max. Let me know if you need more info.
