Default Attention dash swap gurus-

I finally got around to swapping my dash out and putting everything back together. So far its looking great, But I'm having a bit of trouble with changing the differential selector to the new style. The 85+ selector has a receptacle for six vacuum lines, while my 83 selector only has three. Do I need the lines/connector from the 85+ car? Or is there some way to use my existing 3 vacuum lines to operate the new selector?

I'm also having trouble with my turn signals/hazard lights- I followed the wiring diagram from Huw's site to wire in the 85+ hazard switch. The hazard lights work like they normally should, but ONLY when the car is off. Turn the car on (with the hazard light switch in the OFF position) and the left blinker will stay on and not go off (Note that my turn signal stalk does not work, I'm not sure why either..) But if you push the hazard switch to the ON position, the hazard lights work as they should.
Since I put a new upper steering column in the car, the entire turn signal stalk won't work (no turn signals, no low/high beam selection, no cruise)

I have run out of ideas :\ . If anyone can help me with this annoying problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Holidays everyone-
Britt

Might want to ask "rocketaudi " in the 4000 forum, he did it in his 4kq.

Default yeah, just use your mouth on one of the tubes and turn the switches

the new switch will have at least the same functionallity as the old one. You might have to feed the main vacuum line (split it) into more barbs on the new switch.

Default i didnt switch the diff lock switches

i wanted to put the 3 aux gauges in the diff lock spot so im mounting the pull **** elsewhere. as i recall though, my 84 4kq has more than 3 vacuum lines... as for the hazard switch, the turn signal relay is contained in the hazard switch, you may have noticed the signals dont work without that switch plugged in. your guess is as good as mine, an afternoon with a multimeter might clear it up...

Default Re: i didnt switch the diff lock switches

Thanks for the help everyone. I may have the diff lock figured out, but I'm going to have to work on the hazard lights some more. I thought about using the old diff lock and just place it somewhere else, but I was really trying to make the interior look just like an 85/86.
I'll be sure to post pics when I get the entire dash swap project complete.

Happy holidays everyone-
Britt

I've done everything that I can think of, and I still can't get the turn signals to work right. So next week, Im taking the Urq to a local Vw/Audi mechanic to do some work on it, while its there I'll get the guy to see what he can do with my turn signals.
