Default Classic parts shortage??? Audi says no.

from an email reply...

"Joseph, this matter was discussed in depth with the director for parts.
He assured me that there is no "liquidation" of parts for older models
and was vehement in assuring that there would always be parts for our
classic models, which are our pride and heritage. He recognized that
as
the models age parts do become harder to find, but that there are
sources: salvage, retooled and refitted parts, and, of course, the
internet search, the car clubs, and the fans and restorers forums.

We hope that some of these sources will prove to be useful and that you
will be able to maintain your classic Audi. Good luck, and please know
that we do appreciate your interest.

Default Marjorie

auditalk@audi.com

Don't bother, I've been arguing with her for years about various stuff. Might as well argue with a bot.

My current rant is about the RS3. I was at a newsstand and read in at least a half dozen magazines about the RS3 and when it was coming to the US. It was in Consumer Reports New Car Buying Guide for 2006-2007, and others.

So like a dummy I wrote to Audi for details. her repsonse was that there are no plans to produce a 2 door car except the new TT, but that she would forward my inquiry on to those that plan such things.

So I wrote her back with the sources that I read it in and she wrote me back saying that unless you hear it from Audi directly it isn't true.

So according to her there is no RS3 although they've been driving them in Europe for over a year now.

So now it's come to the point that I'm arguing on principal. She's also the one I've complained to about the local crappy Audi dealer, with the repsonse being...oh well, sorry to hear that...next question?

It would at best be an exercise in futility to argue with her...blah.nlah, blah...

Default I was just able to purchase a brand new rain guard for my 85 that I was told was NLA.

Granted, it was shipped from Germany to England, then picked up by a fellow urq-er and brought here.

Default It always seems to depend on the parts guy you get....

ALL Audi dealships have the capability of checking stock in GERMANY. They have to e-mail the part numbers to thier depot and then the depot can check stock in Germany and e-mail the dealership back. It's just extra work for them, so they usually won't do it.

Example: I was told by several dealers that the manual window regualtors were NLA in this country. However, I found a parts manager that was willing to check Germany for me. He found that there were plenty of them in Germany. He had the part numbers re-added to the US system and ordered them for me. Viola', I had brand new, genuine Audi, manual window regulators.

FWIW, Door pockets are globably NLA. :-(

Default Sooo, they want us to get bushings and ball joints from salvage yards. Nice...

These people are clueless. No liquidation of parts? What the hell is this? http://www.audi-club-international.de/e-teile/download/aci_quattro-teileliste_04.2006.pdf

As I am typing this, I am looking over my just arrived shipment of parts from this liquidation sale that "didn't happen".

I think they just want easy questions, like "Where do I get winter floormats for my new RS4?"

Actually we all are, we just don't like the message.

The message is...great you like the old car's...now buy a new one...thank you very much...next question?

I'll give $10 to the first person who get's a legitimate/straight/accurate/true answer from Audi( Marjorie)
