Clutch Cable ???
How time consuming and difficult is it to change the clutch cable in my Quattro.
It snapped this weekend and i am used to FWD VW's where its in your face and easy to fix.
How do i go about doing the cable in the audi.
I opened the hood the other day, took a look, and closed it =(

Nope, still wrong lol
It's hydraulic on any quattro.
There are a couple things that feel like a snapped cable. The first one is when the return spring above your foot breaks and the pedal stays on the floor. Give a mighty yank to see if the pedal rises back up.
If the pedal crunched and stuck on the floor, it could be a siezed slave cylinder - more common than it being the master cylinder.
Also check the firewall around where the pedal mounts to the clutch master cylinder. Very rusted cars can have the firewall split and let go.

Re: Nope, still wrong lol
thats what happened the pedal went to the floor, and i had to reach and pull it out.
Then i pressed it in again and the same thing happened, so i drove home with no clutch.
So its probably either the slave or clutch master cylinder ?

Also the pedal didnt crunch it went in just like normal, but didnt come back.
Its not the spring because i pulled it back and it sprung back by hand.
Its not a rusty firewall, my car is in very good shape.
Ill have to investigate, i think it happened between 2nd to 3rd gear shift.

Correct, most likely the master, if it was the slave you would have a pudle of fluid....
Also, not matter how clean your firewall it will crack if there is a problem and clutch pedal force is high and you use it a lot (daily driver).
The firewall cracks due to fatigue not because of rust.
Hope this helps.

If you're doing the master, get yourself a firewall brace from 034 Motorsports. I've done this on my urq and CGT and highly recommned it. Both had cracks in the firewall around the clutch master. It's not a question of IF, but WHEN.
