Default Dash swap question

I finally put the Ur-Q in the shop last Wednesday to get the fender straightened back up, the rear quarter panel fixed and a paint job. The car won't be ready for about a month or so, the guy doing this is going to do some seriously good work on this car.
But anyways, I'm planning to do a dash/interior swap from a 85+ 4k/cgt. My current dash has one big crack right down the middle of it and it looks terrible, not to mention I'm not too fond of the -84 interiors. I have most of the parts that I will need for this available and I already know how to take the dash out/in (tried it on the 4k parts car before I decided to mess up the UrQ..)
My question is- The only part I don't have is the 85+ 4kq differential selector. Will the later model one work in my 83 after rewiring, etc?
And- will swapping to a later model interior "hurt" the whole image/value of the Urq? In other words- when/if I decide to sell this car in the future, would future owners of this car frown upon it having an 85+ interior in a 83 car?

Any input is appreciated. TIA. Britt

Default An old, cracked, creaky dash for a newer nice dash?

How could that be bad? It makes a BIG difference and is fairly easy to do. You do need the 4kq console. The front drive console will not fit properly. You also need the bracket at the back of the console that is bolted down under the rear shifter bolts.

Don't forget that the wiring for the switches is different, so you will need to spend some time matching things up. I have done a couple of swaps, and the last one was done in under two hours, wiring included, so it isn't that bad as long as you are prepared.

Default I know a lot of dash swaps that use a 4kq diff lock panel...

...or you could make your own. I'm in the process of making a panel to mimic the 1980 Geneva urq show car that had a water temp and oil temp guage with the pull **** and lights for the diff in the center. I'll supply pic with I finish.

Default BTDT on my car... also have one of those diff lock thingies

Yes, the later model diff lock panel will work in '83... all you need to do to make it fully functional is to run a wire for the oil temp sensor.
I also have a spare diff lock panel if you need one... e-mail me at martin@quattro.ca

Hope this helps

Both, the center concole and rear shift boot panel from FWD can be trimmed to fir quattro it almost looks like that is what factory has done anyway.

Ok thanks for the info everyone. I have access to a 86 4ks, so I have most of the parts available for cheap, and I just got a 4kq diff selector, dash badge, a set of smoked tails, and the decals that go on the car from ebay. So I will be good to go, once I get the car back.
