I recently bought a short shift kit for my '83 from Blaufergnugen and they said my center console needs to be modified. I need to know what needs to be modified and what the appropriate way to do it is. They also said that with the finished product the shift boot hides everything. HELP PLEASE, I'm just confused.

I installed Blau's short shift kit in my 83 a couple of years ago. The only thing I had to modify was to cut off part of the shift boot mounting tab that was towards the front of the car. I also had to fool around with the centering/adjusting of the mounting plate to make sure all gears engaged smoothly. Once it's all in and working, it got rid of the slop and did make throws shorter.
