Just FYI, the last six sequential numbers in the ur q VIN do NOT carry over from year to year. I noticed that many people are simply posting ur q #900xxx as a description of their car. You really need more info.

So, if you really want to be accurate when specifying your ur q, you also need the letter preceding the last six digits of the VIN. They started over at 900001 at the beginning of each production year. The '83 production starts with D, '84 E, etc. Here is the production data for '83.

From my research that I posted to the ur q list, I believe the "born on date" (when the number for chassis was pulled) for my '82 C900652 (engine was lucky WX 000013) was Dec. 11, 1981 and it was likely finished later the next week. This date matches dates that I found marked on several parts on the car as well. You can calculate the production date of your cars with a little research on production numbers and dates that you can find on the V pages on ETKA.

...they tend to leave off the year codes. Audifan guys tend to use a seven digit code (D900xxx)when talking about their cars.
