Default urq vs 4kq, for those of you who have had both...

aside from the body and engine, are there any major differences between a 4kq and an urquattro? i know the urq has 5 lug hubs and accomodates wider wheels.. is there anything else?(and yes, im also quite aware of the hike in the badassness factor fromt he 4kq to the urq)

Default The underbody layout is the same.....

On my 86 4kq and my 85 urq, all of the suspension is the same, except for the struts...they're way beefier. I'm not too sure about the earlier urqs...I think the layout is the same, but the control arms are a little different and on the pre-mid 84s, they have a rear sway bar. Also, the front sway bar attaches directly to the control arm, whereas the 85 and some 84s have the link rod.

Well, aside from the huge power difference, and that I never get a thumbs-up when I'm driving the 4kq, I think there are a couple of things that become obvious pretty quickly after driving both cars:
- rear visibility in the urq sucks,
- the 4kq actually feels more neutral than the urq, which leans towards understeer,
- the 4kq sunroof is a tilt/slide,
- 4kq seats are wider.

Default I agree with all of that!....

Also, the urqs turning circle is WAYY bigger than my 4kq. And, I'm not really that tall, 5-10, and I have to have my seat lowered all the way to keep my head from hitting the roof. The windshield is sloped much more than the 4kq.

Default Re: I could drive as fast as I wanted in my 4kq because it was much more quieter,,,

...the Urq is LOUDER, so the cops know your coming. And when you blow by them the Urq is easier to identify seeing as they made a little under 700 thru out N. America between 83 and 86. A speeding 4kq can sometime appear as a 86 subaru DL sedan.

The turning circle is tighter. The ratio on the 4K is quicker.

Default I gotta differ with ya on that.....

In my driveway and making u-turns in the neighborhood, I need to do 3-point turns in the urq where in my 4kq I can do it in one try. I've always found it odd and wonder why it's like that.

That's what I mean. The 4K has the tigher radius. I didn't express that, all that well.
