Default First day at the drag strip this year was kind of a let down. Videos and logs....

Bandimere has a brand new concrete surface and it was 45 degrees outside. It was basically like launching on a frozen pond. Anything over 3.5krpm launch would result in a redline and not moving anywhere. Best launch all day was a 2.00 60ft'... The car was running mid 12's at 117mph, so I put in race fuel, leaned it out, and cranked up the timing. The result was an RS4 clutch that had no chance in hell of holding the power. Luckily, I caught my beating the **** out of it on video! And the car still drove home, lol. Best ET was 12.6 and best MPH was 118.75, which is my 3rd or 4th best. I am going to pull the engine, swap to a new clutch, and try again in a few more weeks.
I had a camera mounted to my helmet and the in-car video is very cool, IMO. My brother was filming from outside the car, too. MWW for profanity on the RS4 Clutch vid...
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTevpEqvwSE"> 12.7@117mph! </a>
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0vY7heUg0M"> 12.9@118mph! </a>
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtwLRI7WiMc"> Dead RS4 Clutch! </a>

Here are the logs from the two videos. The car is considerably slower at the drag strip than it is on the street, even in cold air. Timing is rock star with the race fuel in it. You can see which run is on the 93 with meth and which one is 104 with meth.

I am supposed to go dyno the car this Thursday. The clutch seems to be fine driving around, so I think I am still going to give it a shot. I really compare logs vs drags vs dyno.

Default Yes, stock tranny from an A6 with 130k miles on it. Shifts perfectly believe it or not....

I have a spare in the garage, but I can't seem to kill this one. Incredible considering that I have made over 50 passes at the strip on it so far.
I want a Tilton carbon carbon twin disk.

Default You're going to need drag slicks with the power you're putting down these days!

I'm surprised Bandimere went to concrete considering how bad it hooks up. I'm sure once enough rubber gets down it will hook up good again.

Default Apparently concrete doesn't absorb the VHT or whatever they use until it is 80 degrees...

And it was about 45 degrees out, lol. It was just hopeless. It was truely like launching your car in a foot of snow.
I might actually throw some drag radials on it, but I worry about breaking things. If I get this twin disk, I can load the drive train and build boost to launch, and that would be ideal.

Default Pretty good trap speed! Your comments about the track surface being slippery is consistent...

with what other people have said that were there opening day. Two stock 335s only did 14.5 and 14.7. Those should be high 13 second cars easily. Your car definitely has a very low 12 in it -- maybe even an 11. Hopefully the track will be better after a few sessions of people laying down rubber on the track! Keep us updated if you go back!

Default I remember when reading the article on the 1000hp Polish drag B5 that the drivetrain was stock

Well, most of it. Had different font halfshafts as I recall, but I was stunned. You should browse that article, I'm sure if there are weak areas he's probably found them!

Default I actually saw a 335ix run a 14.2 first thing in the morning. Very impressive cars....

Those poor FWD and RWD guys wouldn't even move half the time, it was really funny. Towards the afternoon it got better, but I had nuked my clutch by then.
There was an STi with some GT turbo that hit 120mph, but other than him, I think I was the fastest car on street tires. He broke, too, lol.
