Default Recaro Seats

Anyone know where I can get a set of Euro spec rs6 Recaro seats (for less than a price of a decent used car)? I'm looking for black leather with the silver insert, but they are hard to come by and when found are big $$$$$$! If anyone knows anyone who actually has them or a solid lead on a hook-up, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Default Investigated...and abandoned the idea

Spent a fair bit of time going down the road on a set of these. Had them all picked out. Then, you'll find that there are a few things you'll need in addition to the seats (rear side airbags, for example). I started to get less than enthusiastic when I learned that this was a "minor" project that would only take a couple hours but would require disconnecting the old airbags, VAG'ing the new set-up, etc. Also, you're going to need to store the old seats somewhere.

Once we got into pricing, the slide of the dollar made it just so expensive. But, that's just for the seats alone. Then, you need to shipped from wherever, clear customs (pay the taxes) and have them transported to you from customs (or pick them up). When I added it all up, it was kind of pricey. I took a pass. Also, when you do finally sell the car, what are you going to do with the new seats? Take them back out or sell car with? And then you'll need to sell the original seats. Honestly, just too much of a headache for me.

However, I did think they were a worthy upgrade.

Default yes. You can get the same seats from Recaro USA (style) w/o RS6 logo.. But..

They dont have airbags and you cant use the seat memory function.. otherwise same seats for around $1200 each..

Default At some point...I will be selling mine -- and I live in Boston. :)

Mine don't have the RS6 logos but are all black (front/rear) matched set with door panels (with sunshades) etc.

I imported these from Frankfurt back in early 2006...and they still bring a smile to my face when I get in the car. I won't even fart in my car anymore -- I usually pull over and pass gass outsid of the car. Ha!!!

I have a contact in Frankfurt that pulls these seats out of test cars from Audi. His price range is usually between 2500 - 2700 Euros (shipped). But with the week value of the US dollar....this can turn into a $4300 upgrade. I guess it was a good thing when I bought mine two years ago.

Ciao!!

Default most folks with a true RS6 (not rebadged) should not have a problem with the cost...

....true enthusiasts who have a passion for certain Euro-only options will usually do anything in their power to add those upgrades.

You can't be so fixated on the initial capital outlay for these seats when you always resell them at a later time for the price that you paid.

The comfort of the Recaro's over the US-spec sport seats is far worth it -- even more so if you take any 2+ hour road trips. A sore back is just not worth it.
