<<It's getting tough to follow threads on here w/ teh heavy-handed modding>>

Yes, a lot of stuff just vanished overnight. :-(

Where is the RS6 GTG in Chicago?

Also, I had a list of RS6 sold prices at Manheim auctions.

ming.moro wanted info on my Bentley wheels. Here it is.

2004-5 Bentley GT, 9x19, 41mm offset, 5x112.

Price for "almost new take-offs" varies $1,500 - $3,500 a set at dealerships and sometimes on ebay. Tires fitted to the 2004-05 Bentley Continental GT are 275 40 19. These might be too big for an RS6 application.

If you do buy a set of "take-offs" with tires, I might buy the Pirelli's off you. Michelin Pilots are also sometimes fitted to these wheels. Put them in classifieds and shoot me an email...

I don't see any heavy-handed modding in here

You mean on this board in general?

I can think of a few reasons:

1. The RS6 is pricey to fix, so more folks want to avoid warranty risk.

2. Since only about 1200 RS6s came to US, fewer vendors are willing to invest in designing & producing RS6 products.

3. Mod prices are high, i.e. well over $2K for most chips, probably again related to the low quantity of cars. That is, it probably takes about the same number of expensive engineering hours to design a chip with a market of 12,000 cars as it does for a market of 1,200 (e.g. the RS6). Guess which one is gonna cost a lot more.

By comparison the last APR chip I had for my B5 S4 produced a 68 hp and 100 lb ft gain for only $600.

4. Suspension mods are tricky because the car already has been lowered, further lowering is not recommended, and DRC has to be removed or dealt with.

I would upgrade brakes if I tracked my RS6, but I don't. My blue bomber has gotten significantly faster as it ages. I thought about modding earlier but have put it off for now because I'm not sure I'd gain much for the prices/risks involved.
