XM Radio

Does anyone have any experience with the XM Radio Module for A6 line. My RS6 is equipped with a button for Satellite Radio and has the "Radar Dome" on the rear roof (cell phone, on-star, radio antennie).

I was trying to find out if the installation is simply a plug-in module without any needed wiring (i.e. messing around by dealer).

It is a plug in module.. Install takes 20 minutes---Well worth it in my opinion.

How much?

Simply Plug in or do I need to Program the Car via Vag-com?

Does the 'radar dome' on the roof contain the antennie?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: XM Radio

I heard the module is not hard to plugin.
It should be in the trunk, in the same general area as the Nav system. You might have to temporarily unscrew the Nav system, so you can find the wires for SAT (XM-Radio).

I was going to do mine, but while at the dealer for the 5K mile service, I had left the module on the front seat. They installed it for me, and it was free of charge.
I was willing to pay for the work afterwards, but they did it without any issues. Can't say for sure that other dealers would do the same, but I was surprised and happy indeed.

Once it was all done, I registered online with XM-Radio, and about 20 minutes later it was running fully. Once you install the module you get about 5 free channels. Once you register, it's about 130 channels.

Sound is amazing, and selection is great. The only place I've found some commercials are on the news channels like CNet, or CNN Headlines.

Sometimes they announce channel identification between songs on some of the stations, but that's like 2 seconds worth of voice-over.

It's awesome!

Just a plug in- In the trunk. No need to program, and yes the dome has the antenna.

Price Data For all

Siruis Module Dealer price $400.00
XM Radio Module Dealer Price $409.20

Installation via Trunk by CD Changer...Drivers side..wire harness has "hidden connector", takes about 1.5 hours....

I just spoke with service and now have to pick between XM and Sirius...

Re: Price Data For all

Hey, New to Audi World. I had the Sirius installed because there is more commercial free music but now it is not working because I also have the Phat Noise. Therefore if you plan on that also be advised you will nedd to choose between the two.
