Considering the DSG is used in the R8, the V10 produces 610 HP and 420 lbs. of torque. The RS7 produces 552 HP and 516 lbs of torque. I don't think that could be the reason. I know of several people that have had more work done on their R8's and increase the HP another 200 HP, and are well over 500 lbs. of torque and so on...with many miles put on them by now..I've heard of very few issues.

You're correct in that there is a DSG used in the R8. Which is why I specified that I've been told the DSG used in the S6/7 isn't able to hold the torque of the RS models.

Of course it's entirely possible that this is utter nonsense. I'm only sharing what I've read and been told by Audi staff. As with anything you read online or hear from dealership staff, you ought to take it with a grain of salt.

Picked up my car today. Here's the final timeline:


Order Created: 5/23/16
Factory Submitted: 7/12/16
Frozen to Changes: 7/13/16
Production Complete: 8/31/16
Ship Departure: 9/6/16
Domestic Port Arrived (Houston, TX): 9/28/16
Arrived at Dealership: 10/4/16
