Default This much rust after 3 winters?

Found a Canadian RS7 3.5 years old and 35,000km (21k miles) dealer is asking $100,000 CAD or $73,000 USD.

But was a little taken a back at how bad the engine bay looks for a car that's only seen 3 winters. It looked like my 8 year old civic. Some of the metal clips/hinges from the bumper is rusting on to the carbon fiber bumper and the exhaust paint is chipped everywhere.

Is this normal? Maybe I'm just being a big baby about a few rust spots.

^ btw, a 52 pound dog can fit comfortably in the back of an a7 / rs7 hatch

It's showing it's age and unavoidable for a car in the damp. You probably don't want to look at the rear end carrier.

Use the rust to your advantage in the price negotiations. Find out how much a detailer would charge to remove the corrosion and protect the trouble spots. The seller may offer to clean it up but they are trying to move the car off the lot. A detailer would be trying to gain a repeat customer. Who would you want to use?

Thanks guys,

I'm going to pass on this RS7.

- Bose system wasn't super impressive
- Bodyroll in the corners felt like an SUV (air suspension)
- The price is pretty close to some 2016's RS7
- The condition of the car (rust) made it feel not worth the price

good choice. With your keen eye for details you should be able to find a newer model in acceptable condition. Keep us posted!

Good decision! All those rust spots in some engine components just show how the previous owner took care of this vehicle. In other words, he or she didn't care to take care of it at all. There are better used RS7 examples out there that will be worth your while.
