07 hard starting problem??
My 07 RS4 after it has been driven hard or been sitting for a bit has a hard time starting. Put the key in, turn, and it will sometimes take up to 4 seconds for the engine to start. It will turn over and try then all of a sudden it will fire up... Any ideas on what can be causing it? Does not happen all the time but happens enough, every other I would guess... Any ideas Id love to hear them. Thanks

Yeah runs great once it has started... i notice if I go out and run her HARD, 3rd gear to 8k twisty bendy roads then let her sit for an hour or so and hop back in it usually is a harder start. It has never not started on me yet, knock on wood.

My car takes about a full second and sometimes maybe a little longer to start every time. I was told it has something to do with the high pressure fuel pumps and direct injection. I've noticed that if I turn the key to on, then wait like 2 or 3 seconds, then turn it over it starts a little quicker. I'm not sure exactly what causes this, but this car always turns over a few times before starting. I've certainly never had to wait 4 seconds though, that doesn't sound normal.

Maybe 4 seconds is a little long... maybe 2 seconds now that i actually counted it out. All I know is that it is long enough for me to look like a jack@ss in a parking garage. I will try putting the key in and "priming" the engine for ignition. See if that helps.

I've noticed my car does crank for a bit longer than most other cars I've owned - especially after it's been sitting for a while. Then it runs just fine. Pulls hard all the way to redline, with a nice surge in the higher RPMs. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
