stupid pepboys....best I can find is valvoline syn power 5w40.....

try autozone, several of us have found Castrol Syntec 5W-40.

and what's wrong with that? valv synpower is 502.00 compliant & more than adequate for top off

Default looked at the different list, it didn't show on the Audi list but then I found another list and is
listed.....so I guess is fine.
Engine oil temp is higher though....

Default Valvoline Synpower 5W-40 isn't on the 2006 502.00 list.
it was dropped. the only Valvoline 5W-40 viscosity on the list now is Valvoline DuraBlend MXL 5W-40.

Default Yeah, I noticed big differences in the July 2005 list and the latest
I shot a question off to the AudiTalk line to ask if there was a reason. The July 2005 list is still hosted on the Audi website.

ya it was on the 05 list, but only one valvoline on 06 list and not this 5w40

Default well most bottles of said oil still say it's 502.00 compliant so no worries...
I guess oil bottled after the certification was dropped this year are "not ok" but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to top the car off with it when you're out of options.
