1st oil change at 1200 mi... good or bad?
I'm looking at a low mileage RS4 with about 3500 miles on it. I spoke with the owner today and he said the car had it's first oil change at 1200 miles and they used Pennzoil Racing Synthetic. I'm not sure this is a good thing.
When we purchased our 2003 A4 I seem to recall that the first oil change should NOT happen before about 5000 miles because the factory fill is some type of break-in oil.
What is the proper break-in procedure for the RS4... change the oil early, or let it go until the first scheduled change at 5000 miles... and does it really matter one way or the other?
Thanks for any input.

Probably not too big of a deal...
The oil is supposed to be Audi spec (502) and I do not think Pennzoil Racing Synthetic is. You can just drain it and have Audi-spec oil put in.
I can't imagine an Audi dealer putting that oil in and I have no idea why you would go anywhere else since the first oil change is free.
All-in-all, he sounds like an enthusiastic if somewhat uniformed owner. As long as there are no other stories to go along with the car, it is probably fine.

He didn't trade it in, it's a private party sale...
and the car has been parked in the garage near Philly for three months while he's running some construction project down in Texas. He says a dark colored car (Mugello) with black interior would not go over too well down there with the heat... and he drives a truck to work every day anyway, so doesn't want to keep paying for a car he doesn't use.
The asking price is $65K. Only flaw is one wheel has "a few scratches." Pictures of that will be forthcoming from his office in the next few days.
Seems pretty nice. I would have it shipped to Seattle.

You can have wheels repaired
It usually costs $100-150 and, if done right, you will never know the wheel was scratched. I assume it a 2007? If so, I think $65K is a little high - $59-61K is probably a fair price for a very clean, very low mileage example.
