2nd DRC leak...200 miles after replacement
#41
I bought an early 08 RS4 about a month ago. 14,000 miles.
I enjoy working on my cars, and read about the car's quirks before the purchase.
I really like the car.
But, on my lift the front shocks are really wet. The bushing on the bottom mounts are wet.
So today I took it to the dealer for "inspection." They showed me the TSB and photos on their computer. Wet for AOA apparently is when the shock tube is covered in oil, still liquid. The photo looks like someone took an oil can and squirted all over it. He didn't give me much hope for AOA to cover it but I asked hime to bump it up to the regional manager.
I'm with the rest of you about the Stasis Ohlins package. I've never seen a racing shock leak like the DRC ones do, but before I put the Ohlins on I just have to see if they'll cover this. I mean, we're talking about a nearly new car and a stubborn corporate viewpoint!

Chassis No. WUAZZZ8E06N901594
Car: 2006 Sprint Blue Audi RS4
Mileage: 27778 Km (17,361 Miles)
Location: Ireland
Catastrophic Failure of Rear Left Damper - Not Damp But oil Everywhere.
Did an inspection and found that front left damper is moist - so really that's both diagonal circuits .. I wonder what the upshot of this deal is - Has anybody the details of the uprated / updated parts and service/recall bulletin ?

Let me apologize for my tardiness in updating the board.
I got nowhere with the first dealership. Got an address at AOA and took pictures of the front shocks while up on the lift, sent them one morning in an e-mail. That same afternoon I got a call, agreement that the front shocks were leaking and started arrangements to R&R all four shocks along with the oil refill. Two weeks later I pick up my car with all work completed and follow-up calls to be sure that was the case.
Time will tell about the durability of the repair, but the morning "thunk" is gone and I no longer have shocks coated in oil and dirt! Thanks so much to the AOA senior customer service team!
