Default 6000 miles and having fun!

I have been off line for a couple of months with a new position. I have been using the RS4 as my daily driver and loving it. I have only one gripe. I want my gas guzzler tax back. I am averaging 20-22 MPG uphill and almost 26 MPG downhill with average speeds approaching 79 MPH. I cannot beleive just how smooth and effortless this motor has become and efficient as well! Sure I can get 10 MPG just as easily, especially when I use the RS4 for demo rides with 5 adults at Reno-Fernley Raceway but going over Donner Pass to Sacramento this car just flies while sipping gas.

I just downloaded the NAV upgrade to get rid of the warning screen. Anything else I missed the last few months? Scott I will register my car soon. Sorry, I have just been been busy with the new position and no stress!

Default Break in & oil consumption

Feedback on how you broke the car in, and how has oil consumption been throughout.

None. I choose my moments carefully and usually the traffic stream is flowing faster anyway. If I find myself leading the pack I slow down. When the road is clear and there are no on ramps ahead I may do test acceleration runs. I try and save real speed runs for the track. We used the RS4 for a pace car at a Formula Mazda race and I hit 130 MPH down the straight way all the while keeping it below 7000 RPM during break in last October.

I followed the manufacturers recommendations for the most part. I kept it below 7000 rpm and I took it over that only for a few seconds at a time occasionally. After 1500 miles I was down a 1/2 quart of oil. I topped it off and then the car some 8000 rpm quite often and runs up to 120-130 MPH at the track down the main straights. Since the car weighs over 4000 lbs I drive it smoothly at the track to conserve brakes and tires. It accelerates very smooth and really likes to run. I instruct for car clubs and usually the RS4 is used for demo rides. Still winter here so we will see how it does this spring.

I performed the 5000 mile service at 3500 miles and no additional oil consumption noted.

Here are easy instructions for the PC:
1) Download the file: RNS-E Nav Update (thanks James P.)
2) Click on the downloaded file and extract all files.
3) Insert blank CD-R.
4) Select the five files then right-click to choose "send to CD".
5) Burn the files to the CD.
6) Insert the CD into the DVD/NAV slot of your car. The software will update after several seconds.

It all seems to work fine. Thanks to everyone who was involved.

Default I'm glad that you're enjoying the car, but

if you're getting those high MPG results, then you are nursin' the beast. Are you in 6th while merging onto the highway?

Come on - DRIVE it!! If you're not routinely in 2nd/3rd at or near red line, then you should drive a Camry, IMHO.
