Default Awesome, I'm glad. Seriously..given the dealer plates were on there, I was worried

since most of us usually take off the paper "plates" and leave em blank...

Anyway, good running into you.

Default Yea come to think of it i drove her harder than usual on the way home today...

But no worries. I make sure to baby her just the right amount. I never rev over 4 1/2k rpms if the oil temp is less than 190ish and I don't even turn on sport mode until about the same temp.

Default I used to drive mine like I stole it every time I started the car...

but the risk/stress/headaches just aren't worth it to me anymore. I still can't help it at times though... hehe.

Also, it doesn't help that my instrument cluster has failed (0mph and 0rpms all the time), making the car lose ESP, EDL, DBW, and a bunch of other luxo-goodies; it's also running very rich, probably because some temp sensor is malfunctioning and it still thinks the car is still cold at operating temp...

electronic gremlins for the win!

dealer on monday

but, it's savage as all hell without the luxo goodies...obviously not as fast since it's running rich, but it sure feels raw!

On the b6 and b7 s4s, you can pull fuse #7 and you'll see what I'm talking about ;-) You side step the throttle, and it closes soooo fast that you nearly hit your head on the steering wheel!

Default Running lean would F the cats, not rich iirc. Since we have so many b5ers browsing, anyone care to

chime in? Too rich I'm sure would have adverse effects somehow, but not just a bit, correct?

Besides, it's only going to be a couple hundred till we figure out what my issue is (i freaking hope!)

It's definitely not as rich as it ran when i had no cats (actually smell the scent of gasoline while WOT on an onramp onto the fwy, with the windows UP!), but I can smell it in the exhaust.

Hey mgdsh, you tell me! Did you notice any darker exhaust at all when I got on it a few times?

Default I think it's the opposite...unburned fuel...

is what will damage the platinum coating. And a misfire especially will overheat the cats, as it would dump even more unburned fuel in there. Lean? Hadn't heard that.
