Default That's most likely the 65K (USD or Euro?) modified motor I heard about...

Don't kid yourself I know they were testing an ultimate version of the TT V8 (the older 4.2L V8) that was going to power the top of the line Apollo car and that motor was putting out nearly 1000 BHP.

BTW they actually broke one of their MAHAs testing this motor. That's how much HP and torque it was putting down.

I'm pretty sure they can get the 888 HP they claim out of the R8 motor.

Default A couple of questions...

I know that you know the MTM guys pretty well and I respect your opinion.

888 hp out the current 4.2 liter V8?

Would that be even remotely reliable?

Can it be done for $65K when they want $20K for their S4 supercharger?

Will the rest of the drive-train withstand the power and torque?

Do you really think this has been tested in a R8 or is this "marketing"?

Default I have not spoken to them in a long time about the SC for the RS4/R8 motors...

But going back to what they told me at the time of my visit when they were still involved in the Apollo program, they claimed several versions of the car would be available with one with an extremely powerful version of the older V8 (pre RS4) with twin turbos developing close to 1000hp.

I don't know what this R888 is all about but I can assure you that MTM does not play the numbers game for PR purposes and if they say the car develops 888 hp I would tend to believe them.

Is it reliable, I don't know and I'm sure there are lots of mods done to the car and motor to make it work properly and reliably. MTM usually won't sale a kit until it is proven reliable. But all this comes at a big price especially if it comes from MTM. I will not be surprised by the price when they finally announce it. I am now immune to their pricing. LOL.

I guess time will tell.

Default Doubt this is for an R8,,,

Look at the vehicle weight - it is far too high for an R8...

Default I had seen that too and I'm not sure why that number or why it says "Gross Weight"...

But usually "gross weight" mean the total allowable weight allowable for a vehicle including driver, passenger, gas and cargo.

It is the maximum weight permissible period.
