Off topic comparison! Well kind of.
The following video is for comparison of the BMW M6 0-60 to what you can only imagine for the RS4. I think we have to decide on what, The Sport mode or not?
And yes this might be a REPOST!<ul><li><a href="http://www.dpccars.com/car-movies/07-06-06pageBMWM60-60.htm">http://www.dpccars.com/car-movies/07-06-06pageBMWM60-60.htm</a</li></ul>

BMW has really gone to great lengths trying to lure Honda drivers who want something more bling bling than an Acura. They put in all these gadgets and acronyms like i-drive, x-drive, P5 mode, P6 mode, yadda yadda that the Honda boys love and eat it up.
Thank god Audi hasn't gone that route yet - but things like the SPORT mode on our RS4's is getting real close. I'd much prefer S being the only mode and keep it simple.

Ok, but I think the Sport mode is a wicked far cry from iDrive, etc..
I mean common, it's a binary function, on and off.
It's the only performance modifying toggle switch in the car, unless you count the ability to disable two levels of intelligent stability algorithms..
I think Audi has done a really good job of blending the right ammount of technology with great mechanics, after all, the DRC is a mechanical system, not computer controlled at all.
RS4 remains a very organic driving experience considering the ammount of technology in today's cars.

If it's any indication..
Audi seems to be about the whole "less is more" philosophy. Less horsepower, more finnesse..
I hope as you do, they don't go off the deep end like BMW has.
I'm sure BMW will come around again, I don't like to see them looking so silly.

Once upon a time....
Benzes were for your grandpa. BMW's were the low frills "ultimate drivers machine." Audi was someplace in between, with the occasional tale of major issues.
Things have changed.
MB is now far sportier in some models thanks to AMG. They are not all diesel belching barges or luxo porkers like a few years ago.
BMW has shifted to gimicks and lost the "ultimate drivers machine" title for "ultimate in expensive gimicks and poor service." It's almost like waling into an Amsterdam S&M parlor going into the local BMW dealership - except the person serving out the abuse doesn't look like the girl in Bob W's SIG!
Audi seems to have had the most sane transition. They've done well taking over the "ultimate driving machine" title that BMW ignored. They also seem to have overcome a lot of the quality problems - still some occur but nothing worse than the BMW and MB issues we hear about from time to time. Audi also shows good signs of remaining focused and hopefully will concentrate on building good entry level european luxury cars with a soul, as well as hotrods like our beloved RS4's and RS6's, while serving up some luxury options as well. I think this does Audi well as it's the one brand that an entire family from freshly licensed (A3) to grandpa (Q7 or A8) can enjoy.
