The damage on that seat looks like he is sitting on the side bolster on the way into it.

Probably won't happen to everyone, depends on how careful you are getting in and out of them.

The side bolster is 4" higher tan the seat surface...
There is no way not to hit it. You just have a choice of crack...OUCH!... or thigh. I'm 6'1 155 and the Sport Bucket seat is extremely clumsy and uncomfortable.
